The family business

We believe that remaining authentic, tied to the origins, gives what we do a broader meaning. And our products a more just and sincere, clean flavor.

Strong roots, strong ambitions

When in 1925 great-grandfather Salvatore bought a farmhouse from the early 1800s and the surrounding land, in the Croce district of Cerignola, he probably didn't imagine that it would inspire the birth of a company that today, many years later, is able to produce around fifty tons of extra virgin olive oil and almost three hundred thousand jars of tomato preserves and pickles, every year!

Once an ancient oil mill powered by a steam locomotive, today Cusmai 1925 is a company from Puglia that owns olive groves – in the Cerignola and Andria areas – and a cannery where it processes and transforms fresh vegetables. A company that enriches its offer with new products and recipes year after year and maintains an artisanal production that is attentive to biodiversity in the field and to environmental and social sustainability.

Bells and golden apples

Our ambition is to tell, through our work and our productions, the traditions of our family to transmit them intact to our customers near and far, without changing what we have been and what we are.

It all started in an olive grove, whose olives, great-grandfather Salvatore, loved to call golden bells . And what music when the mistral blows and cools from the north or the sirocco dries and heats up beyond the collar, right down to the roots. In the olive grove there are three cultivars of robust Apulian tradition: the coratina, the ogliarola and the peranzana. Our plants, thanks to the family experience and the new knowledge of Nicola - member of the National Organization of Olive Oil Tasters - give life to an exceptional extra virgin olive oil. Today also organic.

And still, today, thanks to the right intuition of grandmother Grazia we have opened up to vegetables, processed fresh in our cannery, where we create tomato preserves and pickles following traditional recipes, modified and perfected over time. Thanks to Puglia and its farmers we only have to choose from an enormous variety of vegetables, from tomatoes to aubergines to artichokes, lampascioni and peppers, table olives and mushrooms that we preserve in our extra virgin olive oil. In fact, traditions must not only be preserved but above all spread and shared.

Organic and Slow Food

The new organic line marks a new step towards an even more sustainable agriculture. Strong in an integrated agriculture, the Slow Food guide has admitted our products for years because it finds ours respectful of its principles. Good, clean and fair are a synthesis that also tells with respect, completeness and humility about us and our products.

It is to the land, to Puglia (a grace received), that we owe everything. Respecting it means the future.
